5th Chapter

O my people, this worldly life is only [temporary] enjoyment, and indeed, the Hereafter - that is the home of [permanent] settlement. -- ‌[40:39]

হে আমার কওম, পার্থিব এ জীবন তো কেবল উপভোগের বস্তু, আর পরকাল হচ্ছে স্থায়ী বসবাসের গৃহ। --

But you prefer the worldly life, -- ‌[87:16]

বস্তুতঃ তোমরা পার্থিব জীবনকে অগ্রাধিকার দাও, -- ‌[87:16]

While the Hereafter is better and more enduring. -- ‌[87:17]

অথচ পরকালের জীবন উৎকৃষ্ট ও স্থায়ী। --

Beautified for those who disbelieve is the life of this world, and they ridicule those who believe. But those who fear Allah are above them on the Day of Resurrection. And Allah gives provision to whom He wills without account. -- ‌[2:212]

পার্থিব জীবনের উপর কাফেরদিগকে উম্মত্ত করে দেয়া হয়েছে। আর তারা ঈমানদারদের প্রতি লক্ষ্য করে হাসাহাসি করে। পক্ষান্তরে যারা পরহেযগার তারা সেই কাফেরদের তুলনায় কেয়ামতের দিন অত্যন্ত উচ্চমর্যাদায় থাকবে। আর আল্লাহ যাকে ইচ্ছা সীমাহীন রুযী দান করেন। -- ‌

And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, -- ‌[2:155]

এবং অবশ্যই আমি তোমাদিগকে পরীক্ষা করব কিছুটা ভয়, ক্ষুধা, মাল ও জানের ক্ষতি ও ফল-ফসল বিনষ্টের মাধ্যমে। তবে সুসংবাদ দাও সবরকারীদের। -- ‌

O People, if you should be in doubt about the Resurrection, then [consider that] indeed, We created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot, and then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed - that We may show you. And We settle in the wombs whom We will for a specified term, then We bring you out as a child, and then [We develop you] that you may reach your [time of] maturity. And among you is he who is taken in [early] death, and among you is he who is returned to the most decrepit [old] age so that he knows, after [once having] knowledge, nothing. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and swells and grows [something] of every beautiful kind. -- ‌[22:5]

হে লোকসকল! যদি তোমরা পুনরুত্থানের ব্যাপারে সন্দিগ্ধ হও, তবে (ভেবে দেখ-) আমি তোমাদেরকে মৃত্তিকা থেকে সৃষ্টি করেছি। এরপর বীর্য থেকে, এরপর জমাট রক্ত থেকে, এরপর পূর্ণাকৃতিবিশিষ্ট ও অপূর্ণাকৃতিবিশিষ্ট মাংসপিন্ড থেকে, তোমাদের কাছে ব্যক্ত করার জন্যে। আর আমি এক নির্দিষ্ট কালের জন্যে মাতৃগর্ভে যা ইচ্ছা রেখে দেই, এরপর আমি তোমাদেরকে শিশু অবস্থায় বের করি; তারপর যাতে তোমরা যৌবনে পদার্পণ কর। তোমাদের মধ্যে কেউ কেউ মৃত্যুমুখে পতিত হয় এবং তোমাদের মধ্যে কাউকে নিষ্কর্মা বয়স পর্যন্ত পৌছানো হয়, যাতে সে জানার পর জ্ঞাত বিষয় সম্পর্কে সজ্ঞান থাকে না। তুমি ভূমিকে পতিত দেখতে পাও, অতঃপর আমি যখন তাতে বৃষ্টি বর্ষণ করি, তখন তা সতেজ ও স্ফীত হয়ে যায় এবং সর্বপ্রকার সুদৃশ্য উদ্ভিদ উৎপন্ন করে। --

That is because Allah is the Truth and because He gives life to the dead and because He is over all things competent -- ‌[22:6]

এগুলো এ কারণে যে, আল্লাহ সত্য এবং তিনি মৃতকে জীবিত করেন এবং তিনি সবকিছুর উপর ক্ষমতাবান। -- ‌

And [that they may know] that the Hour is coming - no doubt about it - and that Allah will resurrect those in the graves. -- ‌[22:7]

এবং এ কারণে যে, কেয়ামত অবশ্যম্ভাবী, এতে সন্দেহ নেই এবং এ কারণে যে, কবরে যারা আছে, আল্লাহ তাদেরকে পুনরুত্থিত করবেন। -- ‌

And he presents for Us an example and forgets his [own] creation. He says, "Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?" -- ‌[36:78]

সে আমার সম্পর্কে এক অদ্ভূত কথা বর্ণনা করে, অথচ সে নিজের সৃষ্টি ভুলে যায়। সে বলে কে জীবিত করবে অস্থিসমূহকে যখন সেগুলো পচে গলে যাবে? --

Say, "He will give them life who produced them the first time; and He is, of all creation, Knowing." -- ‌[36:79]

বলুন, যিনি প্রথমবার সেগুলোকে সৃষ্টি করেছেন, তিনিই জীবিত করবেন। তিনি সর্বপ্রকার সৃষ্টি সম্পর্কে সম্যক অবগত। -- ‌

And they say, "When we are bones and crumbled particles, will we [truly] be resurrected as a new creation?" -- ‌[17:49]

তারা বলেঃ যখন আমরা অস্থিতে পরিণত ও চূর্ণ বিচূর্ণ হয়ে যাব, তখনও কি নতুন করে সৃজিত হয়ে উত্থিত হব? -- ‌

Say, "Be you stones or iron -- ‌[17:50]

বলুনঃ তোমরা পাথর হয়ে যাও কিংবা লোহা। -- ‌

Or [any] creation of that which is great within your breasts." And they will say, "Who will restore us?" Say, "He who brought you forth the first time." Then they will nod their heads toward you and say, "When is that?" Say, "Perhaps it will be soon - -- ‌[17:51]

অথবা এমন কোন বস্তু, যা তোমাদের ধারণায় খুবই কঠিন; তথাপি তারা বলবেঃ আমাদের কে পুর্নবার কে সৃষ্টি করবে। বলুনঃ যিনি তোমাদেরকে প্রথমবার সৃজন করেছেন। অতঃপর তারা আপনার সামনে মাথা নাড়বে এবং বলবেঃ এটা কবে হবে? বলুনঃ হবে, সম্ভবতঃ শ্রীঘ্রই। -- ‌

Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion. -- ‌[3:185]

প্রত্যেক প্রাণীকে আস্বাদন করতে হবে মৃত্যু। আর তোমরা কিয়ামতের দিন পরিপূর্ণ বদলা প্রাপ্ত হবে। তারপর যাকে দোযখ থেকে দূরে রাখা হবে এবং জান্নাতে প্রবেশ করানো হবে, তার কার্যসিদ্ধি ঘটবে। আর পার্থিব জীবন ধোঁকা ছাড়া অন্য কোন সম্পদ নয়। --

Say, "Indeed, the death from which you flee - indeed, it will meet you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you about what you used to do." -- ‌[62:8]

বলুন, তোমরা যে মৃত্যু থেকে পলায়নপর, সেই মৃত্যু অবশ্যই তোমাদের মুখামুখি হবে, অতঃপর তোমরা অদৃশ্য, দৃশ্যের জ্ঞানী আল্লাহর কাছে উপস্থিত হবে। তিনি তোমাদেরকে জানিয়ে দিবেন সেসব কর্ম, যা তোমরা করতে। -- ‌

So direct your face toward the correct religion before a Day comes from Allah of which there is no repelling. That Day, they will be divided. -- ‌[30:43]

যে দিবস আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে প্রত্যাহূত হবার নয়, সেই দিবসের পূর্বে আপনি সরল ধর্মে নিজেকে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করুন। সেদিন মানুষ বিভক্ত হয়ে পড়বে। -- ‌

And spend [in the way of Allah] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous." -- ‌[63:10]

আমি তোমাদেরকে যা দিয়েছি, তা থেকে মৃত্যু আসার আগেই ব্যয় কর। অন্যথায় সে বলবেঃ হে আমার পালনকর্তা, আমাকে আরও কিছুকাল অবকাশ দিলে না কেন? তাহলে আমি সদকা করতাম এবং সৎকর্মীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হতাম। --

But never will Allah delay a soul when its time has come. And Allah is Acquainted with what you do. -- ‌[63:11]

প্রত্যেক ব্যক্তির নির্ধারিত সময় যখন উপস্থিত হবে, তখন আল্লাহ কাউকে অবকাশ দেবেন না। তোমরা যা কর, আল্লাহ সে বিষয়ে খবর রাখেন। --

And warn them, [O Muhammad], of the Approaching Day, when hearts are at the throats, filled [with distress]. For the wrongdoers there will be no devoted friend and no intercessor [who is] obeyed. -- ‌[40:18]

আপনি তাদেরকে আসন্ন দিন সম্পর্কে সতর্ক করুন, যখন প্রাণ কন্ঠাগত হবে, দম বন্ধ হওয়ার উপক্রম হবে। পাপিষ্ঠদের জন্যে কোন বন্ধু নেই এবং সুপারিশকারীও নেই; যার সুপারিশ গ্রাহ্য হবে। --

And fear a Day when no soul will suffice for another soul at all, nor will intercession be accepted from it, nor will compensation be taken from it, nor will they be aided. -- ‌[2:48]

আর সে দিনের ভয় কর, যখন কেউ কারও সামান্য উপকারে আসবে না এবং তার পক্ষে কোন সুপারিশও কবুল হবে না; কারও কাছ থেকে ক্ষতিপূরণও নেয়া হবে না এবং তারা কোন রকম সাহায্যও পাবে না। -- ‌

On the Day when every soul will come disputing for itself, and every soul will be fully compensated for what it did, and they will not be wronged. -- ‌[16:111]

যেদিন প্রত্যেক ব্যক্তি আত্ন-সমর্থনে সওয়াল জওয়াব করতে করতে আসবে এবং প্রত্যেক ব্যক্তি তাদের কৃতকর্মের পূর্ণ ফল পাবে এবং তাদের উপর জুলুম করা হবে না। -- ‌

And on the Day of Resurrection you will see those who lied about Allah [with] their faces blackened. Is there not in Hell a residence for the arrogant? -- ‌[39:60]

যারা আল্লাহর প্রতি মিথ্যা আরোপ করে, কেয়ামতের দিন আপনি তাদের মুখ কাল দেখবেন। অহংকারীদের আবাসস্থল জাহান্নামে নয় কি? --

O mankind, fear your Lord. Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing. -- ‌[22:1]

হে লোক সকল! তোমাদের পালনকর্তাকে ভয় কর। নিশ্চয় কেয়ামতের প্রকম্পন একটি ভয়ংকর ব্যাপার। -- ‌

On the Day you see it every nursing mother will be distracted from that [child] she was nursing, and every pregnant woman will abort her pregnancy, and you will see the people [appearing] intoxicated while they are not intoxicated; but the punishment of Allah is severe. -- ‌[22:2]

যেদিন তোমরা তা প্রত্যক্ষ করবে, সেদিন প্রত্যেক স্তন্যধাত্রী তার দুধের শিশুকে বিস্মৃত হবে এবং প্রত্যেক গর্ভবতী তার গর্ভপাত করবে এবং মানুষকে তুমি দেখবে মাতাল; অথচ তারা মাতাল নয় বস্তুতঃ আল্লাহর আযাব সুকঠিন। -- ‌

On the Day a man will flee from his brother -- ‌[80:34]

সেদিন পলায়ন করবে মানুষ তার ভ্রাতার কাছ থেকে, -- ‌

And his mother and his father -- ‌[80:35]

তার মাতা, তার পিতা, -- ‌

And his wife and his children, -- ‌[80:36]

তার পত্নী ও তার সন্তানদের কাছ থেকে। --

For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. -- ‌[80:37]

সেদিন প্রত্যেকেরই নিজের এক চিন্তা থাকবে, যা তাকে ব্যতিব্যস্ত করে রাখবে। --

And you will see every nation kneeling [from fear]. Every nation will be called to its record [and told], "Today you will be recompensed for what you used to do. -- ‌[45:28]

আপনি প্রত্যেক উম্মতকে দেখবেন নতজানু অবস্থায়। প্রত্যেক উম্মতকে তাদের আমলনামা দেখতে বলা হবে। তোমরা যা করতে, অদ্য তোমারদেরকে তার প্রতিফল দেয়া হবে। -- ‌

This, Our record, speaks about you in truth. Indeed, We were having transcribed whatever you used to do." -- ‌[45:29]

আমার কাছে রক্ষিত এই আমলনামা তোমাদের সম্পর্কে সত্য কথা বলবে। তোমরা যা করতে আমি তা লিপিবদ্ধ করতাম। --

Indeed, We have warned you of a near punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth and the disbeliever will say, "Oh, I wish that I were dust!" -- ‌[78:40]

আমি তোমাদেরকে আসন্ন শাস্তি সম্পর্কে সতর্ক করলাম, যেদিন মানুষ প্রত্যেক্ষ করবে যা সে সামনে প্রেরণ করেছে এবং কাফের বলবেঃ হায়, আফসোস-আমি যদি মাটি হয়ে যেতাম। -- ‌

And the record [of deeds] will be placed [open], and you will see the criminals fearful of that within it, and they will say, "Oh, woe to us! What is this book that leaves nothing small or great except that it has enumerated it?" And they will find what they did present [before them]. And your Lord does injustice to no one. -- ‌[18:49]

আর আমলনামা সামনে রাখা হবে। তাতে যা আছে; তার কারণে আপনি অপরাধীদেরকে ভীত-সন্ত্রস্ত দেখবেন। তারা বলবেঃ হায় আফসোস, এ কেমন আমলনামা। এ যে ছোট বড় কোন কিছুই বাদ দেয়নি-সবই এতে রয়েছে। তারা তাদের কৃতকর্মকে সামনে উপস্থিত পাবে। আপনার পালনকর্তা কারও প্রতি জুলুম করবেন না। --

So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! -- ‌[69:19]

অতঃপর যার আমলনামা ডান হাতে দেয়া হবে, সে বলবেঃ নাও, তোমরাও আমলনামা পড়ে দেখ। --

Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." -- ‌[69:20]

আমি জানতাম যে, আমাকে হিসাবের সম্মুখীন হতে হবে। --

So he will be in a pleasant life - -- ‌[69:21]

অতঃপর সে সুখী জীবন-যাপন করবে, -- ‌

But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record -- ‌[69:25]

যার আমলনামা তার বাম হাতে দেয়া হবে, সে বলবেঃ হায় আমায় যদি আমার আমল নামা না দেয়া হতো। -- ‌

And had not known what is my account. -- ‌[69:26]

আমি যদি না জানতাম আমার হিসাব! --

I wish my death had been the decisive one. -- ‌[69:27]

হায়, আমার মৃত্যুই যদি শেষ হত। -- ‌

My wealth has not availed me. -- ‌[69:28]

আমার ধন-সম্পদ আমার কোন উপকারে আসল না। -- ‌

Gone from me is my authority." -- ‌[69:29]

আমার ক্ষমতাও বরবাদ হয়ে গেল। --

The Day every soul will find what it has done of good present [before it] and what it has done of evil, it will wish that between itself and that [evil] was a great distance. And Allah warns you of Himself, and Allah is Kind to [His] servants." -- ‌[3:30]

সেদিন প্রত্যেকেই যা কিছু সে ভাল কাজ করেছে; চোখের সামনে দেখতে পাবে এবং যা কিছু মন্দ কাজ করেছে তাও, ওরা তখন কামনা করবে, যদি তার এবং এসব কর্মের মধ্যে ব্যবধান দুরের হতো! আল্লাহ তাঁর নিজের সম্পর্কে তোমাদের সাবধান করছেন। আল্লাহ তাঁর বান্দাদের প্রতি অত্যন্ত দয়ালু। -- ‌

Indeed, Allah does not wrong the people at all, but it is the people who are wronging themselves. -- ‌[10:44]

আল্লাহ জুলুম করেন না মানুষের উপর, বরং মানুষ নিজেই নিজের উপর জুলুম করে। -- ‌

So as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, their Lord will admit them into His mercy. That is what is the clear attainment. -- ‌[45:30]

যারা বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করেছে ও সৎকর্ম করেছে, তাদেরকে তাদের পালনকর্তা স্বীয় রহমতে দাখিল করবেন। এটাই প্রকাশ্য সাফল্য। -- ‌

But as for those who disbelieved, [it will be said], "Were not Our verses recited to you, but you were arrogant and became a people of criminals? -- ‌[45:31]

আর যারা কুফর করেছে, তাদেরকে জিজ্ঞাসা করা হবে, তোমাদের কাছে কি আয়াতসমূহ পঠিত হত না? কিন্তু তোমরা অহংকার করছিলে এবং তোমরা ছিলে এক অপরাধী সম্প্রদায়। -- ‌

And when it was said, 'Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth and the Hour [is coming] - no doubt about it,' you said, 'We know not what is the Hour. We assume only assumption, and we are not convinced.' " -- ‌[45:32]

যখন বলা হত, আল্লাহর ওয়াদা সত্য এবং কেয়ামতে কোন সন্দেহ নেই, তখন তোমরা বলতে আমরা জানি না কেয়ামত কি ? আমরা কেবল ধারণাই করি এবং এ বিষয়ে আমরা নিশ্চিত নই। -- ‌

And the evil consequences of what they did will appear to them, and they will be enveloped by what they used to ridicule. -- ‌[45:33]

তাদের মন্দ কর্ম গুলো তাদের সামনে প্রকাশ হয়ে পড়বে এবং যে আযাব নিয়ে তারা ঠাট্টা-বিদ্রুপ করত, তা তাদেরকে গ্রাস করবে। -- ‌
