4th Chapter

There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing. -- ‌[2:256]

দ্বীনের ব্যাপারে কোন জবরদস্তি বা বাধ্য-বাধকতা নেই। নিঃসন্দেহে হেদায়াত গোমরাহী থেকে পৃথক হয়ে গেছে। এখন যারা গোমরাহকারী ‘তাগুত’দেরকে মানবে না এবং আল্লাহতে বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করবে, সে ধারণ করে নিয়েছে সুদৃঢ় হাতল যা ভাংবার নয়। আর আল্লাহ সবই শুনেন এবং জানেন। -- ‌

And had your Lord willed, those on earth would have believed - all of them entirely. Then, [O Muhammad], would you compel the people in order that they become believers? -- ‌[10:99]

আর তোমার পরওয়ারদেগার যদি চাইতেন, তবে পৃথিবীর বুকে যারা রয়েছে, তাদের সবাই ঈমান নিয়ে আসতে সমবেতভাবে। তুমি কি মানুষের উপর জবরদস্তী করবে ঈমান আনার জন্য? -- ‌

We are most knowing of what they say, and you are not over them a tyrant. But remind by the Qur'an whoever fears My threat. -- ‌[50:45]

তারা যা বলে, তা আমি সম্যক অবগত আছি। আপনি তাদের উপর জোরজবরকারী নন। অতএব, যে আমার শাস্তিকে ভয় করে, তাকে কোরআনের মাধ্যমে উপদেশ দান করুন। -- ‌

The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful. -- ‌[2:185]

রমযান মাসই হল সে মাস, যাতে নাযিল করা হয়েছে কোরআন, যা মানুষের জন্য হেদায়েত এবং সত্যপথ যাত্রীদের জন্য সুষ্পষ্ট পথ নির্দেশ আর ন্যায় ও অন্যায়ের মাঝে পার্থক্য বিধানকারী। কাজেই তোমাদের মধ্যে যে লোক এ মাসটি পাবে, সে এ মাসের রোযা রাখবে। আর যে লোক অসুস্থ কিংবা মুসাফির অবস্থায় থাকবে সে অন্য দিনে গণনা পূরণ করবে। আল্লাহ তোমাদের জন্য সহজ করতে চান; তোমাদের জন্য জটিলতা কামনা করেন না যাতে তোমরা গণনা পূরণ কর এবং তোমাদের হেদায়েত দান করার দরুন আল্লাহ তা’আলার মহত্ত্ব বর্ণনা কর, যাতে তোমরা কৃতজ্ঞতা স্বীকার কর। -- ‌

And strive for Allah with the striving due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty. [It is] the religion of your father, Abraham. Allah named you "Muslims" before [in former scriptures] and in this [revelation] that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over the people. So establish prayer and give zakah and hold fast to Allah. He is your protector; and excellent is the protector, and excellent is the helper. -- ‌[22:78]

তোমরা আল্লাহর জন্যে শ্রম স্বীকার কর যেভাবে শ্রম স্বীকার করা উচিত। তিনি তোমাদেরকে পছন্দ করেছেন এবং ধর্মের ব্যাপারে তোমাদের উপর কোন সংকীর্ণতা রাখেননি। তোমরা তোমাদের পিতা ইব্রাহীমের ধর্মে কায়েম থাক। তিনিই তোমাদের নাম মুসলমান রেখেছেন পূর্বেও এবং এই কোরআনেও, যাতে রসূল তোমাদের জন্যে সাক্ষ্যদাতা এবং তোমরা সাক্ষ্যদাতা হও মানবমন্ডলির জন্যে। সুতরাং তোমরা নামায কায়েম কর, যাকাত দাও এবং আল্লাহকে শক্তভাবে ধারণ কর। তিনিই তোমাদের মালিক। অতএব তিনি কত উত্তম মালিক এবং কত উত্তম সাহায্যকারী। -- ‌

Recite, [O Muhammad], what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows that which you do. -- ‌[29:45]

আপনি আপনার প্রতি প্রত্যাদিষ্ট কিতাব পাঠ করুন এবং নামায কায়েম করুন। নিশ্চয় নামায অশ্লীল ও গর্হিত কার্য থেকে বিরত রাখে। আল্লাহর স্মরণ সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠ। আল্লাহ জানেন তোমরা যা কর। -- ‌

If you disclose your charitable expenditures, they are good; but if you conceal them and give them to the poor, it is better for you, and He will remove from you some of your misdeeds [thereby]. And Allah, with what you do, is [fully] Acquainted. -- ‌[2:271]

যদি তোমরা প্রকাশ্যে দান-খয়রাত কর, তবে তা কতইনা উত্তম। আর যদি খয়রাত গোপনে কর এবং অভাবগ্রস্তদের দিয়ে দাও, তবে তা তোমাদের জন্যে আরও উত্তম। আল্লাহ তা’আলা তোমাদের কিছু গোনাহ দূর করে দিবেন। আল্লাহ তোমাদের কাজ কর্মের খুব খবর রাখেন। -- ‌

Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured." -- ‌[13:28]

যারা বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করে এবং তাদের অন্তর আল্লাহর যিকির দ্বারা শান্তি লাভ করে; জেনে রাখ, আল্লাহর যিকির দ্বারাই অন্তর সমূহ শান্তি পায়। -- ‌

The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely - -- ‌[8:2]

যারা ঈমানদার, তারা এমন যে, যখন আল্লাহর নাম নেয়া হয় তখন ভীত হয়ে পড়ে তাদের অন্তর। আর যখন তাদের সামনে পাঠ করা হয় কালাম, তখন তাদের ঈমান বেড়ে যায় এবং তারা স্বীয় পরওয়ার দেগারের প্রতি ভরসা পোষণ করে। -- ‌

Say, "Never will we be struck except by what Allah has decreed for us; He is our protector." And upon Allah let the believers rely. -- ‌[9:51]

আপনি বলুন, আমাদের কাছে কিছুই পৌঁছবে না, কিন্তু যা আল্লাহ আমাদের জন্য রেখেছেন; তিনি আমাদের কার্যনির্বাহক। আল্লাহর উপরই মুমিনদের ভরসা করা উচিত। -- ‌

Race toward forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden whose width is like the width of the heavens and earth, prepared for those who believed in Allah and His messengers. That is the bounty of Allah which He gives to whom He wills, and Allah is the possessor of great bounty. -- ‌[57:21]

তোমরা অগ্রে ধাবিত হও তোমাদের পালনকর্তার ক্ষমা ও সেই জান্নাতের দিকে, যা আকাশ ও পৃথিবীর মত প্রশস্ত। এটা প্রস্তুত করা হয়েছে আল্লাহ ও তাঁর রসূলগণের প্রতি বিশ্বাসস্থাপনকারীদের জন্যে। এটা আল্লাহর কৃপা, তিনি যাকে ইচ্ছা, এটা দান করেন। আল্লাহ মহান কৃপার অধিকারী। -- ‌

And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace, -- ‌[25:63]

রহমান-এর বান্দা তারাই, যারা পৃথিবীতে নম্রভাবে চলাফেরা করে এবং তাদের সাথে যখন মুর্খরা কথা বলতে থাকে, তখন তারা বলে, সালাম। -- ‌

And do not turn your cheek [in contempt] toward people and do not walk through the earth exultantly. Indeed, Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful. -- ‌[31:18]

অহংকারবশে তুমি মানুষকে অবজ্ঞা করো না এবং পৃথিবীতে গর্বভরে পদচারণ করো না। নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ কোন দাম্ভিক অহংকারীকে পছন্দ করেন না। -- ‌

And be moderate in your pace and lower your voice; indeed, the most disagreeable of sounds is the voice of donkeys." -- ‌[31:19]

পদচারণায় মধ্যবর্তিতা অবলম্বন কর এবং কন্ঠস্বর নীচু কর। নিঃসন্দেহে গাধার স্বরই সর্বাপেক্ষা অপ্রীতিকর। -- ‌

And tell My servants to say that which is best. Indeed, Satan induces [dissension] among them. Indeed Satan is ever, to mankind, a clear enemy. -- ‌[17:53]

আমার বান্দাদেরকে বলে দিন, তারা যেন যা উত্তম এমন কথাই বলে। শয়তান তাদের মধ্যে সংঘর্ষ বাধায়। নিশ্চয় শয়তান মানুষের প্রকাশ্য শত্রু। --

O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. -- ‌[33:70]

হে মুমিনগণ! আল্লাহকে ভয় কর এবং সঠিক কথা বল। --

So give the relative his right, as well as the needy and the traveler. That is best for those who desire the countenance of Allah, and it is they who will be the successful. -- ‌[30:38]

আত্নীয়-স্বজনকে তাদের প্রাপ্য দিন এবং মিসকীন ও মুসাফিরদেরও। এটা তাদের জন্যে উত্তম, যারা আল্লাহর সন্তুষ্টি কামনা করে। তারাই সফলকাম। --

And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way. -- ‌[17:32]

আর ব্যভিচারের কাছেও যেয়ো না। নিশ্চয় এটা অশ্লীল কাজ এবং মন্দ পথ। --

Say, "Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited to you. [He commands] that you not associate anything with Him, and to parents, good treatment, and do not kill your children out of poverty; We will provide for you and them. And do not approach immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason." -- ‌[6:151]

আপনি বলুনঃ এস, আমি তোমাদেরকে ঐসব বিষয় পাঠ করে শুনাই, যেগুলো তোমাদের প্রতিপালক তোমাদের জন্যে হারাম করেছেন। তাএই যে, আল্লাহর সাথে কোন কিছুকে অংশীদার করো না, পিতা-মাতার সাথে সদয় ব্যবহার করো স্বীয় সন্তানদেরকে দারিদ্রের কারণে হত্যা করো না, আমি তোমাদেরকে ও তাদেরকে আহার দেই, নির্লজ্জতার কাছেও যেয়ো না, প্রকাশ্য হোক কিংবা অপ্রকাশ্য, যাকে হত্যা করা আল্লাহ হারাম করেছেন, তাকে হত্যা করো না; কিন্তু ন্যায়ভাবে। তোমাদেরকে এ নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন, যেন তোমরা বুঝ। -- ‌

Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do. -- ‌[24:30]

মুমিনদেরকে বলুন, তারা যেন তাদের দৃষ্টি নত রাখে এবং তাদের যৌনাঙ্গর হেফাযত করে। এতে তাদের জন্য খুব পবিত্রতা আছে। নিশ্চয় তারা যা করে আল্লাহ তা অবহিত আছেন। --

O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do. -- ‌[5:8]

হে মুমিনগণ, তোমরা আল্লাহর উদ্দেশে ন্যায় সাক্ষ্যদানের ব্যাপারে অবিচল থাকবে এবং কোন সম্প্রদায়ের শত্রুতার কারণে কখনও ন্যায়বিচার পরিত্যাগ করো না। সুবিচার কর এটাই খোদাভীতির অধিক নিকটবর্তী। আল্লাহকে ভয় কর। তোমরা যা কর, নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ সে বিষয়ে খুব জ্ঞাত। --

And those who, when tyranny strikes them, they defend themselves, -- ‌[42:39]

যারা আক্রান্ত হলে প্রতিশোধ গ্রহণ করে। -- ‌[42:39]

And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah. Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers. -- ‌[42:40]

আর মন্দের প্রতিফল তো অনুরূপ মন্দই। যে ক্ষমা করে ও আপোষ করে তার পুরস্কার আল্লাহর কাছে রয়েছে; নিশ্চয় তিনি অত্যাচারীদেরকে পছন্দ করেন নাই। --

But seek, through that which Allah has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and [yet], do not forget your share of the world. And do good as Allah has done good to you. And desire not corruption in the land. Indeed, Allah does not like corrupters." -- ‌[28:77]

আল্লাহ তোমাকে যা দান করেছেন, তদ্বারা পরকালের গৃহ অনুসন্ধান কর, এবং ইহকাল থেকে তোমার অংশ ভূলে যেয়ো না। তুমি অনুগ্রহ কর, যেমন আল্লাহ তোমার প্রতি অনুগ্রহ করেছেন এবং পৃথিবীতে অনর্থ সৃষ্টি করতে প্রয়াসী হয়ো না। নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ অনর্থ সৃষ্টিকারীদেরকে পছন্দ করেন না। -- ‌
