Dress Code For MEN & WOMEN

  ....HIJAB, BEARD & FACE COVER IS NOT MUST IN ISLAM….

If the world reform & ethics was mainly dependent on the women wear, then the Quran would have mainly talked & detailed women wear , on the contrary there are more than 6000 verses in Quran , only 2 of them (ration is 1:3000) talks about women wear, & these verses are in Sura Al Ahzab & Al Noor whereby Quran asks the Prophet (saws) to first tell the believing MEN NOT TO GAZE AT WOMEN & to lower their gaze before mentioning dress decency to women .These verses ask the prophet to tell believing women to cover their bosoms & bring down their dress/skirt over them (avoid short clothes) & call for a decent polite non flashy wear & and not expose their adornment except which thereof appears , that is all & the verses do not detail the women dress any further

 

 “And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their head covers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers that you might succeed.”  Sura Noor Ayat 24:31

বাংলা অনুবাদঃ ঈমানদার নারীদেরকে বলুন, তারা যেন তাদের দৃষ্টিকে নত রাখে এবং তাদের যৌন অঙ্গের হেফাযত করে। তারা যেন যা সাধারণতঃ প্রকাশমান, তা ছাড়া তাদের সৌন্দর্য প্রদর্শন না করে এবং তারা যেন তাদের মাথার ওড়না বক্ষ দেশে ফেলে রাখে এবং তারা যেন তাদের স্বামী, পিতা, শ্বশুর, পুত্র, স্বামীর পুত্র, ভ্রাতা, ভ্রাতুস্পুত্র, ভগ্নিপুত্র, স্ত্রীলোক অধিকারভুক্ত বাঁদী, যৌনকামনামুক্ত পুরুষ, ও বালক, যারা নারীদের গোপন অঙ্গ সম্পর্কে অজ্ঞ, তাদের ব্যতীত কারো আছে তাদের সৌন্দর্য প্রকাশ না করে, তারা যেন তাদের গোপন সাজ-সজ্জা প্রকাশ করার জন্য জোরে পদচারণা না করে। মুমিনগণ, তোমরা সবাই আল্লাহর সামনে তওবা কর, যাতে তোমরা সফলকাম হও। ২৪:৩১

 

“O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.”                 Sura Ahzab Ayat33:59

বাংলা অনুবাদঃহে নবী! আপনি আপনার পত্নীগণকে ও কন্যাগণকে এবং মুমিনদের স্ত্রীগণকে বলুন, তারা যেন তাদের চাদরের কিয়দংশ নিজেদের উপর টেনে নেয়। এতে তাদেরকে চেনা সহজ হবে। ফলে তাদেরকে উত্যক্ত করা হবে না। আল্লাহ ক্ষমাশীল পরম দয়ালু।  ৩৩:৫৯

Also Quran did not mention any penalty for non decent clothes or any compulsion for decent clothes, thus it is up to the society to take such measure in a just COMPROMISE BETWEEN GENERAL PUBLIC DECENCY & RESPECTING OF PERSONAL DRESS FREEDOM under the Islamic principal of Justice. The hadith & narrations about face covering to women & repressive clothes are much suspected & fake same as many fake hadith that aim to mar Islam. In my humble opinion, QURAN HAS MADE WOMEN DRESS A DISCRETIONAL MATTER WHICH THE CONSCIENCE OF THE BELIEVING WOMAN HAS TO DECIDE WHAT IS MODERATE DECENT NON FLASHY DRESS IN THE SOCIETY & TIME SHE LIVES IN within observance of what mentioned above.

NO FACE COVERING MANDATORY FOR WOMEN IN ISLAM

 

• 1) NO TEXT IN QURAN OR AN ACT IN SUNNAH THAT MANDATES WOMEN TO COVER THEIR FACE, but it is a mere cultural habit taken from other ancient non Muslim nations (ultra orthodox Jews living in Arabian peninsula) & was unjustly imitated by some Muslims as many other harmful habits that people falsely attribute to Islam unjustly distorting religion.

.2) PROPHET BANNED FACE COVERING for women going to pilgrimage Hajj /Omra in Makkah & ordered them to reveal and NOT cover their face or hands & this command is strictly adopted until today. Haram Makkah is the holiest place & Hajj or Omra' is the highest spiritual/religious status for Muslims, thus if face covering was a virtue by any means, then the Prophet who calls for piety would have instructed women going to Hajj & Omra to cover their faces & not the opposite, moreover men & women are not segregated in this holiest place & perform their highest spiritual religious rituals without segregation

3)QURAN DOES NOT MENTION ANY FACE COVER; looking at Quran verses talking about women wear , we find that ALLAH told his prophet to first tell the believing MEN NOT TO GAZE AT WOMEN & to lower their gaze before mentioning dress decency to women only telling them to cover their bosoms & not expose their adornment except which thereof appears. Ref Sura Noor Ayat 24:31

Note that the word خمار" “ “Khimar” in Arabic means “Head COVER” & NOT A HEAD SCARF as mistranslated in several translations that bias to women repression & this cover can be the garment itself (blouse or dress to cover bosoms) or a head or neck or shoulder cover / scarf to cover the bosom if the dress does not cover it.

 
Also note that the VERSE ALLOWED WOMAN TO EXPOSE PARTS OF THEIR BODY in front of illegal partners or relatives , but did not name these parts, this means that ALLAH HAS ASSIGNED THE NAMING OF THESE PARTS TO WHAT IS CONSIDERED DECENT AS PER THE TIME & PLACE . The old time scholars in their times agreed that the face & hands are included in the exposed parts & disagreed if the foot & arms to be also included in the exposure.

 

•4) ABOUT PROPHET WIVES ON THAT MATTER; some claimed narrations that Prophet (pbuh) wives & daughters covered their face is a non proven matter & other narrations prove that they did not cover their faces, especially that they were identified when seen outdoors, this mean they had uncovered face.

And since our ultimate reference is Quran, QURAN NEVER INSTRUCTED PROPHET WIVES TO COVER THEIR FACE, BUT ONLY ORDERED MEN WHEN THEY ARE IN PROPHET HOUSE TO ASK THE PROPHET WIVES FROM BEHIND A PARTITION which can be a curtain or screen or door or so , this is sura

“O you, who have believed, do not enter the houses of the Prophet except when you are permitted for a meal, without awaiting its readiness. But when you are invited, then enter; and when you have eaten, disperse without seeking to remain for conversation. Indeed, that [behavior] was troubling the Prophet, and he is shy of [dismissing] you. But Allah is not shy of the truth. And when you ask [his wives] for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts. And it is not [conceivable or lawful] for you to harm the Messenger of Allah or to marry his wives after him, ever. Indeed, that would be in the sight of Allah an enormity.” Sura Ahzab Ayat 33:53

 

“তোমরা তাঁর পত্নীগণের কাছে কিছু চাইলে পর্দার আড়াল থেকে চাইবে।”

Nevertheless, if we assume -for the sake of argument just to appease hardliners- that Prophet wives covered their faces, then this practice in particular should not be applied in analogy to any other Muslim women because THERE ARE CERTAIN RESTRICTIONS APPLIED TO PROPHET WIVES THAT SHOULD NOT BE APPLICABLE TO OTHER MUSLIM WOMEN . ALLAH SAYS THAT PROPHET WOMEN ARE NOT LIKE OTHER WOMEN,

 

“O wives of the Prophet, you are not like anyone among women.  If you fear Allah, then do not be soft in speech [to men], lest he in whose heart is disease should covet, but speak with appropriate speech.”  Sura Ahzab Ayat 33:32]

“হে নবী পত্নীগণ! তোমরা অন্য নারীদের মত নও; যদি তোমরা আল্লাহকে ভয় কর, তবে পরপুরুষের সাথে কোমল ও আকর্ষনীয় ভঙ্গিতে কথা বলো না, ফলে সেই ব্যক্তি কুবাসনা করে, যার অন্তরে ব্যাধি রয়েছে তোমরা সঙ্গত কথাবার্তা বলবে।”

Prophet (pbuh) wives are double punished for their sins & double rewarded for their good deeds. Also they are not allowed to marry anyone after Prophet (pbuh) death & these restrictive rules are not to be applied to other Muslim women , thus even if we assume -for sake of argument to appease hardliners - that Prophet wives covered their faces as an exclusive rule then this is to be applied to them only & not to other women

5) FACE COVERING CAN BE A GOOD MEANS FOR SIN & fornication because women who want to have illegal relation with strange men can go out undercover & do any sin without their husbands or relatives or anyone identifying them

•6) FACE COVER & WOMEN SEGREGATION OBSTRUCTS WOMEN FROM RUNNING & MANAGING THEIR OWN WEALTH & trade business & many men who were proxies for veiled women has misused the proxies & robbed the money of women

•7) GANGS & CRIMINALS CAN DO THEIR CRIMES IN WOMEN FULL VEIL & remain hiding under the face cover

•.8) FACE COVERING IS HAZARDOUS TO SOCIETY & REPRESSIVE& OPPRESSIVE & UNJUST TO WOMEN thus contradictory to Islamic Shariah (legislation) which aims to society welfare & just for man & woman

9) QURAN INSTRUCTS MEN TO LOWER THEIR GAZE; what is said about fearing of temptation “fitnah” to some men, the answer is that there can be also very handsome men, so why their faces are not covered, nevertheless for those men fearing temptation, Quran instructed them to lower their gaze & if there are still some sick minded men, then these men need to get a mental or psychological therapy not enforcing face cover over women.

“Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is acquainted with what they do.”

Sura Noor Ayat 24:30

 

“মুমিন পুরুষদেরকে বলুন, তারা যেন তাদের দৃষ্টি নত রাখে এবং তাদের যৌনাঙ্গর হেফাযত করে। এতে তাদের জন্য খুব পবিত্রতা আছে। নিশ্চয় তারা যা করে আল্লাহ তা অবহিত আছেন।”

10) Moreover, there are more than 6000 verses in Quran talking about many issues as justice, charity, forgiveness, patience, good manners, moderation, modesty, honesty.. etc & unfortunately most Islamic conversation is about women clothes & neglecting the other issues of ethics & manner while there are only two verses in Quran that talked about women clothes decency, this makes the ratio of women clothes verses to other verses less than 1 to 3000, so let us give this issue its own real weight, only 1 to 3000 of our Islamic conversation & give other issues their own weights.

•.FINALLY, THE ISSUE BRIEF IS “FACE COVER FOR WOMEN IS NOT FROM ISLAM BUT A HARMFUL WRONG HABIT & PRACTICE CONTRADICTORY TO ISLAM SHARIA (LEGISLATION) & SHOULD BE CHANGED”

……BEARD IS NOT MUST ………

Beard maybe regarded by some as a sign of wisdom,  reverence,  ascetic or virility, but any must in Islam should be mentioned in Quran as a must & Quran does not say anything about beard growing as a religious or piety requirement or preference.  Also, it is not a Sunnah & the so called 'hadith " about beard must is just a fake hadith just as the myriad of many fake hadith that mar the Islamic religion ,Note all the KUFFAR & DISBELIEVERS & ENEMIES OF PROPHET (PBUH)HAD LONG BEARDS. Also Jewish Rabbis & Christian priests & Sikh & Hindu religious people have long beards. Some straight men & some homosexuals have beards, some genius men & some nuts mad men have beards & some ethical guys have beards & some criminals & murderers have beards, some pious men have beards & some terribly fornicated men have beards. So beards are not really a cause of piety neither a specific feature for any caste or faction.

If Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) had a beard then this was the men normal look at his time & society, moreover there were no modern shaving razors & kit as of today at his time thus daily beard shaving using knives or daggers or large blades was a heck of trouble & facial injuries . Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) had no car & rode a camel & lived in tent not in modern house & wore a galabeya no jackets or pants, used no shower or tapped water or modern life tools but rather primitive tools & wore the clothes & lived life style relevant to his time. These are the tools & habits & clothes of his time & not Sunnah. Islam Sunnah is about ethics, worship & good treatment to others & not a beard.

Of course no objection to any beard growing since it is a personal freedom &many religious figures from different religions choose to grow their beard as a sign of ascetic or wisdom but it should not be falsely claimed that it is an Islamic must or a piety requirement.

ON THE DOOMS DAY ALLAH WILL JUDGE US AS PER OUR ACTS (GOOD & BAD) & WILL NOT DECIDE OUR FATE TO HELL OR HEAVEN BASED ON OUR BEARD LENGTH. GOOD MUSLIMS BETTER BE KNOWN BY THEIR GREAT MANNERS RATHER THAN THEIR GREAT BEARDS
